Chrysler Continues to Take Risks With your New Car
New audit teams have found that these unsafe practices are continuing. These photos, below, show that new Fiat/Chrysler vehicles are still being transported by inexperienced, sub-standard auto carrier companies.
Unsuspecting car buyers are going home with cars such as these that could have hidden damages. We are mystified that Chrysler would jeopardize its cars, its customers and its reputation just to save a few dollars per car.
The above car is secured with canvas straps that are run through the wheel rims, which is improper. This puts a tremendous strain on the suspension and alignment, and does not adequately secure the car to the rig. This car could have damage to its tires, rims and/or axles that would cause steering problems, premature tire wear and lower gas mileage. There could also be damage to the suspension that would compromise the handling and safety of the vehicle.
The Dodge Challenger's frame, above, is resting directly on the floor of the carrier just behind the front wheel. This could easily cause frame damage due to the car being tied down at an incorrect angle.
This truck is tied down with J-hooks instead of the R-hooks that Chrysler requires. R-hooks are designed to spread pressure more evenly across the frame. The hooks are also attached to the wrong holes in the frame, which could cause damage to the frame and the suspension. |
